Polar
Few places are as brutal, cold and unforgiving as the Earth’s polar regions. Temperatures regularly hit 50 below, wind speeds exceed 100mph, and white-outs leave visitors stumbling blind. Despite the treacherous conditions, explorers head out to conquer the polar regions year after year. In 2018, Davor Rostifor became the first Croatian to reach the South Pole; he was followed by Frenchman Matthieu Tordeur, in 2018; the Euro-Arabian Women's Expedition made it to the North Pole; Ben Saunders attempted the first solo, unsupported crossing of Antarctica; and Kate Leeming attempts the first solo bike crossing — each trip fuelled by Firepot.
