Skye high

Photographer Scott Clarence is newly returned from a recent trip to the Isle of Skye, where he felt the full force of Scotland's midges on a solo wild camp.

His goal was to wild camp at the top of Sgùrr na Strì (roughly translated as 'The Peak of Strife'), which is popular for its magnificent views of the Cuillin Ridge and Loch Coruisk. The route is a challenging one with a steep pathless ascent to the summit, and five miles from the nearest road; all in all it takes most people over seven hours.

As he put down his camera for the evening, he was able to watch a group of kayakers enjoying the Loch before sunset.
