Running the Jurassic Coast
In July 2023, Archie is attempting to run the 96 mile Jurassic Coast in just 48 hours, in order to raise £10,000 for his chosen charity,‘CALM’ (Campaign Against Living Miserably). Fuelled by a few nourishing Firepot meals.
The entire Jurassic Coast covers 96 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset, with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth's history. The route spans from Exmouth with the oldest red Triassic rocks, all the way to Old Harry Rocks, with the youngest white chalk stacks. The impact of the sea is distinctly evident in the many amazing rock formations and cliff faces on this stretch of coastline.
The route begins in Exmouth and continues via the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve to Axmouth. The path continues on to the world-renowned fossil sites of Lyme Regis and Charmouth. The views are spectacular as you hike to the highest point on the South coast, Golden Cap, past West Bay (and Firepot HQ). The route then leads you along Chesil Beach, Europe's first barrier beach, and around the Isle of Portland, and on to Durdle Door, with its infamous rock arch and the equally iconic Lulworth Cove. The final portion of the journey takes you past Durlston Head to Old Harry Rocks near Studland.
During his training, he stopped in to pay us a visit, find the link to the video here.
On 22/23rd July 2023, Archie ran the 96 mile Jurassic Coast for CALM.
“It took me 36 hours, I had two 15 minute naps and it was during the worst weather of the year. Thank you so much to everyone who donated towards this crazy crazy goal. Donations are still open and will remain so while we make this documentary which is scheduled for release in Spring 2024.”
