Bikepacking through the Purbecks to Portland

Bournemouth-based bikepacker, Vish Nair, is back from a 100 mile overnight ride which showed off some of the best of Dorset's rugged coastline. Starting from home, his route took him on the Sandbanks chain ferry across nature reserves, the picturesque and undulating Purbeck hills, and down to Chesil Beach, one of Dorset's most cherished landmarks.

His destination was the Isle of Portland — half an hour from our farmhouse HQ, and the southernmost point on the Jurassic Coast. Portland offers dramatic clifftops, ancient rock formations, historic quarries and panoramic sea views.

With few convenient stop-off points providing plant-based nutrition, Vish chose to pack some Firepot in his panniers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner before returning back home, following the coast east.
